Stuck in lockdown

Creativity still flowing

The result: a cool series of bold, visually striking posters

Creativity never stops - not even for a global pandemic. Sheltering at home in 2020-21 provided the perfect opportunity to dive into design. I found inspiration in the small Ontario town of my childhood on Lake Huron. I love the lake and local landmark buildings that have always attracted my attention; from the harbourfront lighthouse to the former post office. The visual style for the poster series simplifies the essence of these landmark buildings, reducing design elements to the essentials, in a strict linear form, while still maintaining their recognition and character. Bold colour palettes and simple patterns provide the tools for more visual expression; from concentric rays of sun beams to repeating blue waves. The poster series is definitely evolving - with more shapes and broader colour selections. I’m really enjoying the results so far. Online print-on-demand solutions, like Vistaprint, make one-off printing easy and affordable. In Toronto, Victory Gallery, offers ready-made frames that are solid and affordable.
